Argyreia nervosa, commonly known as Hawaiian baby woodrose, is a perennial climbing vine in the morning glory family (Convolvulaceae) valued for its ornamental foliage and clusters of trumpet-shaped, lavender to violet flowers. Native to the Indian subcontinent, this vigorous, woody-stemmed plant can reach lengths of over 10 meters, using twining stems to climb trees, fences, or trellises. Its large, heart-shaped leaves are covered in soft, silvery hairs, giving them a velvety texture and a distinctive sheen in sunlight. The flowers, which bloom in attractive bunches, are followed by rounded, woody seed pods containing a few large, hard seeds. Argyreia nervosa thrives in warm, tropical to subtropical climates and prefers full sun with well-drained soil. It is often grown as an ornamental for its lush tropical appearance and its flowers. In cultivation, it is prized for rapid growth, drought tolerance once established, and its ability to create dense, leafy cover that provides shade.
