Agave parryi, commonly known as Parry's agave, is a compact, cold-hardy succulent native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It forms dense rosettes of thick, blue-gray to silvery-green leaves with pronounced terminal spines and sharp, dark teeth along the margins. Typically reaching about 1 to 2 feet in height and width, this slow-growing species thrives in arid and semi-arid environments. Agave parryi is especially valued for its architectural form and drought tolerance, making it a favorite in xeriscaping and rock gardens. It produces a spectacular flowering stalk up to 15 feet tall once in its lifetime, bearing clusters of yellow flowers that attract pollinators such as hummingbirds and bats. After blooming, the plant dies, often leaving behind numerous offsets or "pups" that continue the life cycle.
