Pistacia chinensis, commonly known as the Chinese pistache, is a deciduous tree native to China and widely cultivated worldwide for its striking ornamental qualities and adaptability. It typically grows 30–50 feet (9–15 meters) tall with a broad, rounded to spreading canopy, providing excellent shade in urban and residential landscapes. One of its most celebrated features is its spectacular fall foliage, which ranges from fiery red to orange and yellow, creating a dramatic seasonal display that can rival many maples. The tree produces inconspicuous, small greenish-yellow flowers in spring, which are followed by clusters of small, bluish-black drupes that attract birds but are generally not considered edible for humans.
