Cyrtostachys renda, commonly known as the lipstick palm or red sealing wax palm, is a striking species of palm native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, particularly found in regions like Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. It is renowned for its vibrant red or maroon colored crownshaft and leaf sheaths, which give it the appearance of wearing lipstick, hence the common name.

This palm species typically grows in moist, tropical environments and can reach heights of up to 20 meters (about 65 feet) in the wild. Its slender trunk is usually about 10-15 centimeters (4-6 inches) in diameter. The foliage consists of pinnate leaves that can grow up to 2-3 meters (6-10 feet) long, with leaflets arranged along the stem.

Cyrtostachys renda is often cultivated as an ornamental plant in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide due to its attractive appearance. However, it requires a warm, humid climate and well-drained soil to thrive. In cooler climates, it can be grown indoors as a houseplant but may not achieve the same size as when grown outdoors in its native habitat.
