Lesquerella gordonii, commonly known as Gordon's bladderpod, is a low-growing annual herb native to the arid and semi-arid regions of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It forms a compact rosette of gray-green, hairy leaves and produces clusters of small, bright yellow flowers in early spring. The plant is part of the mustard family and is well-adapted to sandy or gravelly soils, often thriving in desert flats and open scrublands. Its drought tolerance and early blooming period make it an important nectar source for native bees and other pollinators emerging after winter. Lesquerella gordonii also produces distinctive inflated seed pods that contribute to its common name. Due to its ecological benefits and adaptability, it plays a role in native plant restoration and xeriscape gardening in dryland regions.
